Monday, October 4, 2010

Shakira is back to what she does best in her new music video.

The Colombian singer squeezes into a gold bikini top and sequinned trousers, showing off her killer abs as she shakes those famous hips.

Shot on a stunning Barcelona beach, Shakira, 33, duets with British rapper Dizzee Rascal for her latest offering, Loca.

It is the first single from her upcoming album, The Sun Comes Out (Sale el Sol), which is due out on October 19.

In the video, Shakira gets up close and personal a male dancer as they put on a sultry routine together.

The storyline see the pop star go on a madcap adventure that includes roller-skating, public wardrobe changes, motorbike riding and dancing around in a fountain.

She filmed the video during a visit to the Spanish city in August. It was directed by long-time Shakira collaborator Jaume de Laiguana.

According to the New York Post, Barcelona's authorities are considering fining the singer for stopping traffic as she filmed sequences.

Her actions are considered a violation of strict antisocial behavior laws.

Shakira, who didn’t get any permits, danced in a public fountain (Pla de Palau fountain) and rode on the back of a motorcycle with her hair flowing in the wind, when she should have worn a helmet.

Shakira Performs at Glastonbury Festival!

Monday, June 28, 2010

Colombian superstar Shakira performed at the 2010 edition of the legendary Glastonbury Festival in England on Saturday - It was confirmed back in April that the pop singer would be one of the acts on this year's show and Shakira has been talking all this time about her excitement of playing at this huge festival.

The singer from Barranquilla performed a set consisting of four songs which included one single from each of her three English albums; "Underneath Your Clothes" from 2001's "Laundry Service", "Hips Don't Lie" from 2005's "Oral Fixation Vol. 2" and "She Wolf" from the same name album relesed last year. Additionally, Shaki treated gig-goers with a performance of the FIFA World Cup anthem "Waka Waka". This song works amazingly live! She showed support to the England team with a few "England! England" shouts. Sadly, Shakira's support had no effect as the country is now OUT of the World Cup, having been beaten 4 - 1 by Germany.

Fergie and sultry Shakira kick off the World Cup party

Monday, June 14, 2010

With the world's football teams poised to thrash it out on the pitch, Black Eyed Peas frontwoman Fergie set the battlefield tone as she emerged in a gladiator-style outfit for the official World Cup kick-off concert.
The 35-year-old poured her figure into a leg-baring black, gold and silver number, complete with bejewelled breast plates and structured shoulder and hip panels.
However, despite her eye-catching attire she didn't quite manage to hog the limelight, as that honour went to sultry Colombian singer Shakira who stole the show in a cutaway body and grass skirt combo as she performed World Cup song Waka Waka (This Time For Africa).
Teaming her look with an Edward Scissorhands-inspired claw hand, Fergie looked like she meant business as the Black Eyed Peas rocked Orlando Stadium in South Africa tonight in front of thousands of excitable revellers.
Fergie was joined on stage by her bandmates Will.I.Am, who wore a Phantom of the Opera-like mask and vocalists Apl.De.Ap and Taboo.

Other stars on the bill included Shakira, who perform the closing set at the event.

She sang some of her most well known tracks, including The Hips Don't Lie, before getting stuck in to the finale song Waka Waka (This Time For Africa), the official World Cup anthem.
Dressed in a grass skirt and cutaway bodice, the Columbian singer strutted and shimmied her way through an energetic routine, while still sounding pitch perfect.

Concert-goers clapped and cheered amidst almost freezing temperatures as footballers, local musicians and the international singing stars, who also included U.S. singer Alicia Keys, took to the stage, the first time such a music concert has been held as part of the World Cup opening events.

Shakira Shaking up !!!

Monday, June 7, 2010

Shakira Mebarak (full name: Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll) was born February 2, 1977, in Barranquilla, Colombia, into a poor family. Her mother was a native Colombian and her father was of Lebanese descent, and so as a child Shakira soaked up music from both cultures; she also listened heavily to English-language rock & roll, listing her favorite bands in later interviews as Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, the Police, the Cure, and Nirvana. Shakira wrote her first song at age eight, began entering (and winning) talent competitions at age ten, and started learning the guitar at age 11; one story runs that around this age, she was kicked out of her school choir for singing too forcefully. In 1990, at age 13, Shakira moved to Bogotá in hopes of pursuing a modeling career, but wound up signing a record deal with Sony's Colombian division instead. Her 1991 debut album, Magia (Magic), was comprised of songs she'd written over the past five or six years, including some of her earliest efforts. Although it didn't break internationally, the record started to make a name for her in her home country. Dissatisfied with the pop inclinations of the follow-up, 1993's Peligro (Danger), Shakira changed direction for a time, joining the cast of the Colombian soap opera El Oasis in 1994.
